Recovering Evangelical

The probability is that I will not agree with some(if not a lot) of the teachings of this church. My current montra is "I am willing to let them be wrong as long as they are willing to let me be wrong". But they seem to have an abundance of what I am looking for. A real sense of community. I will have to go back several times and get to know them outside of the "church service", but I am hopeful. Someone offered to watch my handicapped daughter so we(my wife and I) could be in attendence together and then thanked us for the "priveledge" of watching Amanda. Thing is that people knew we were there and made a point to talk to us. Not in the "this is my ministry" format but kind of randomly. It was all very human. Warm and unplanned. Sincere is the word that first comes to mind.

The problem of having been "stung" in the past is that I tend to be overly cautious. So I want to be a sincere and warm and loving, willing to risk the chance that this is for real. At least I didnot have to deal with a "campus administrator" who suggests that being accepted is the visitors problem.
