We need to have similar dialogue on this important topic, here. I'm arguing, not unlike what I mentioned in the comments of my Gran Torino post, that there must be a choice C to the alternatives of Pacifism and Just War.
One doesn't need to embrace the view that any war can be "just" to be willing to serve in the administration of the state or to change the way it uses its potential for violence. I believe that we need to be committed to strengthening the aspect of democracy in our political system so that it will check our imperialistic tendencies and that professionalism among soldiers also is an important way to prevent wars/blood-shed.
